Good Afternoon:

·        EASTSIDE CALENDAR: Be sure and look at the back of the note for important dates for the rest of THIS school year.

·        CHAPEL is THIS Wednesday, February 15, at 8:35 a.m. Miss Lubbers will be speaking.

·        HOT LUNCH: This week Amy Spees and Michelle Spees will be serving Blimpie Subs, Chips, Fudge Bar, and Pop. Snack Sale providers are Vicki DeKryger, Kim DeMeester, and Carol DeVries. Please have all snacks individually wrapped. Thank you.

·        SUB SALE: Need a break from making the same old sandwiches for lunches? Want a quick light supper on a busy night? Place your orders fro the delicious 8-inch subs (three meats and two cheeses) at $2.00 each. These quality ingredients are being purchased from a local meat market and will be assembled by the Eastside moms. Orders for subs are due by Tuesday, February 21, 2006, with payment included. The subs will be prepared and made available for pickup on Wednesday, March 1. Please call Carol DeVries (363-5980) or Heidi VanBaren (682-0086) with any questions or orders.

·        ATTENTION ECS LADIES/SUPPORTERS: We need women to help assemble subs. Please check your calendar and call Carol or Heidi to volunteer your time on the morning of Wednesday, March 1.

·        PIZZA NIGHT: Everyone is invited to Eastside’s 5th annual Pizza/Game Family Night on NEXT Saturday, February 25, pizza from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m., open gym from 5:30-9:00 p.m., at Eastside Christian School. Come for fresh homemade pizza and pop, board and card games, magic tricks by Brian VanderKolk, the Teen Room, ping-pong and foos-ball tournaments, basketball in the gym, and much more!

·        BASKETBALL PRACTICE: There is no practice this week.

·        BASKETBALL GAMES: Come and support the Eastside Eagles.

o  Tuesday, February 14: Eastside vs. Heritage 8th Grade at Heritage at 4:00 p.m.

o  Thursday, February 16: Eastside vs. Hope 8th Grade at Eastside at 4:00 p.m.

o  Tuesday, February 21: Eastside vs. Adams 8th – 9th Grade at Adams at 4:00 p.m.

·        TRIP: Today is a Trip order day. Orders will be ready for pick on Friday, February 17. The next order date will be Monday, February 27. Cash and Carry is on Mondays and Fridays from 2:30-3:00 p.m.

·        INTERNATIONAL AID: Keep bringing items for International Aid. We hope to be able to take a field trip to International Aid in Spring Lake, next Monday, February 20. Our time to arrive in Spring Lake is 9:00 a.m. We will leave Eastside promptly at 8:30 a.m. Teachers will be contacting you to serve as drivers. You are all invited to go. Call us for information. **Note: The alternate date is Monday, February 27 – only for bad weather or an emergency.

·        PROMOTERS MEETING NEXT Thursday, February 16, at 7:30 p.m.

CATECHISM SCHEDULE: Grace Seif and Kim Monsma are scheduled to watch catechism kids this Wednesday. REMINDER: All mothers must be at school by 3 p.m. and remain until 5:20 p.m.

v           OTHER NEWS:

·        EUROPE TRIP 2007: If there are any ninth-graders who are interestedn signing up for the Europe trip sponsored by a history and language teacher at Covenant Christian High School please stop by Eastside’s school office for more information and registration materials. The trip will be during the summer of 2007 which will be between your Sophomore and Junior years. You may also register next year, but you can save $200 if registered by March 31st of this year. We hope that some of you and your friends or parents will be able to join us in this great educational travel opportunity.

·        HOPE SCHOOL will again be making “Pigs” on February 21. To place your order, call Carol Bos (895-8004).

·        HERITAGE CHRISTIAN SCHOOL Fundraisers is selling The Farbers, which was written by Gertrude Hoeksema.  This book is a collection of 101 stories about a fictional Christian family and their everyday experiences.  Each story brings to life Christian values which we strive to teach our children.  They are wonderful bedtime stories.  If you would like to see the book it is on display at Eastside in the school office.  Orders may be dropped off at Eastside’s school office.  Books will be delivered to school the week of February 20.  Any questions, please call Karen Kuiper #662-0948.
